Accupril (Quinapril) Uses

This medication is used to lower high blood pressure. This medication is also used to treat heart failure after a heart attack. This medication is also used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How Accupril (Quinapril) Works

This medication works by blocking a chemical reaction that constricts blood vessels. This produces a relaxing or widening of blood vessels and lower blood pressure.

How To Take Accupril (Quinapril)

This medication is taken by mouth. This medication can be taken with or without food. You should take this medication regularly at the same time every day. Do not stop taking this medication without first consulting your doctor.

Accupril Side Effects

This medication is generally well-tolerated and side effects are usually mild. Common side effects include cough, headache, dizziness, low blood pressure and fatigue. If you experience any other side effects, contact your healthcare professional.

Accupril (Quinapril) Warnings and Precautions

Do NOT abruptly stop this medication without consulting your doctor. This medication can increase sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity). Wear protective clothing and/or sunscreen until you determine your sensitivity.

This medication can cause dizziness or drowsiness. Inform your doctor if you develop a persistent cough (longer than 2 weeks).

Tell your doctor if you have a history of kidney or liver problems.

Missed Dose

Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children. Store at room temperature, away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw out medication that is outdated or no longer needed.

Do not take this medication during pregnancy because of the possibility of fetal damage. This medication is not believed to be excreted into breast milk in significant quantities, But Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
