This medication is used to lower high blood pressure. Medications control high blood pressure, not cure it. This medication is also used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How Avapro (Irbesartan) Works
This medication works by blocking a chemical reaction that constricts blood vessels. This produces a relaxing or widening of blood vessels and lower blood pressure.
How To Take Avapro (Irbesartan)
This medication is taken by mouth. Avapro can be taken with or without food. You should take this medication regularly at the same time every day. Do not stop taking this medication without first consulting your doctor.
Avapro (Irbesartan) Possible Side Effects
This medication is generally well-tolerated and side effects are usually mild. Common side effects include headache, dizziness, cough, diarrhea, heartburn, and fatigue. If you experience any other side effects, contact your healthcare professional.
