Cozaar (Losartan) Uses

This medication is used to lower high blood pressure. This medication controls high blood pressure, but does not cure it. This medication is also used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How Cozaar (Losartan) Works

This medication works by blocking a chemical reaction that constricts blood vessels. This produces a relaxing or widening of blood vessels and lower blood pressure.

How To Take Cozaar (Losartan)

This medication is taken by mouth, usually once a day. This medication can be taken with or without food. You should take this medication regularly at the same time every day. Do not stop taking this medication without first consulting your doctor.

Cozaar (Losartan) Possible Side Effects

This medication is generally well-tolerated and side effects are usually mild. Common side effects include cough, headache, dizziness, upset stomach, diarrhea and fatigue. If you experience any other side effects, contact your healthcare professional.

Do NOT abruptly stop this medication without consulting your doctor.

Cozaar (Losartan) Pregnancy/Nursing Precautions

Do not take this medication during pregnancy because of the possibility of fetal damage. It is not known whether Cozaar excreted into breast milk, so exercise caution in deciding whether to use this medication while breast-feeding.
